Originally from the Netherlands, Matthias has called Vancouver home for the past 10 years.
Growing up in a family that loved to travel the world, it’s no surprise he developed a deep connection to all things travel and tourism.
When he’s not helping you plan your dream vacation, you’ll likely find him running the trails of Vancouver’s North Shore or exploring one of the city’s many incredible cafes in search of the perfect coffee and a sweet treat.
What is your favorite place in Canada?
My favourite place in Canada is, quite simply, Vancouver. I moved here from the Netherlands for a reason. There are few major cities in the world where you can swim in the ocean in the summer, then hit the ski slopes just 20 minutes away in the winter. You just can’t beat it.
What is your best travel memory in Canada?
My favourite Canadian travel experience was in Montreal. Having equal love for Canada and Europe, it’s beautiful to experience a city that offers the best aspects of both. Canadian hospitality and friendly people, combined with rich history and European architecture.
What one thing in Canada should you experience at least once in your life?
Seeing a bear is about as Canadian as it gets. Whether you book a trip to a remote bear-viewing lodge, join an organized viewing tour, or simply encounter one on a local hike, the feeling of seeing those majestic animals is something you’ll never forget.
